Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Statement explains how Parewell Platform Inc. (“Parewell, “we,” or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information to provide our services to you (“Services”). This Privacy Statement applies to personal information we collect when you use any Services, including but not limited to our website, software applications, and related services for users and service providers (“Service Providers”) to find each other and arrange for the provision of perinatal services (the “Parewell Service”), or when you otherwise interact with us.

Please note that certain of our affiliates may have separate privacy statements. This Privacy Statement does not apply to websites, applications, or services that display or link to other privacy statements, unless expressly stated otherwise in those privacy statements.

By accessing and using Parewell, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

How Do We Collect Your Information?

The information we collect varies based on how you interact with us, which Services you use, and the choices you make on the site. We collect and process information about you with your consent and/or as necessary to provide the products and services you use, operate our business, meet our contractual and legal obligations or protect the security of our systems and our customers.

With your consent, we collect information about you in various ways when you use our Services, including information you provide directly, information collected automatically, information collected via third-party data sources, and data we infer or generate from other information. We may also share information with, and receive information from, our affiliates for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement.

When you are asked to provide information, you may decline. You may also use web browser or operating system controls to prevent certain types of automatic data collection. But if you choose not to provide information that is necessary for certain products or features, you understand that those products or features may not be available or function correctly.

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us, as follows:

Account Information includes personal information we collect when you create an account, create or edit your profile, or list your Services through the Parewell Service. Depending on how you use the Parewell Service, account information may include your full name, email address, phone number, address, availability, banking information, credit card information, services offered, and any other account-related information you choose to provide.

Content and Files includes the photos, videos, documents, and other files you upload through the Parewell Service. This also includes the content of any reviews (including private reviews) or your communications to or from Parewell.

Payment & Banking Information includes payment information you provide to us, such as the amount and type of services purchased, the date and time of a transaction, and payment card information. (Payment card transactions are processed by our third-party payment processors).

If you are a Service Provider, we and our third-party payment processors may also collect certain payment disbursement information to distribute your revenue from the Services you provide via the Parewell Service. Parewell will not store or collect Your payment card details. That information is provided directly to Our third-party payment processors whose use of Your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.

If you are a Service Provider, we may also collect your business information.

Other Information may include all other personal information you provide to us, such as when you submit a service listing, communicate with us via third party social media sites, request customer support, provide us with contact information for a referral, or otherwise communicate with us.

Information Collected Automatically When You Use the Services

When you access or use the Services, we may automatically collect information about you, as follows:

Identifiers and Device Information. We may collect log information about your use of the Services, including the type of browser you use, access times, pages viewed, your IP address, device identifiers, device type, browser, and other software including type, version, language, settings, mobile network information, and configuration. Our website and online services store and retrieve cookie identifiers, mobile IDs, and other data.

Usage Information
We automatically log your activity on our Services, including the URL of the website from which you came to our sites, pages you viewed, how long you spent on a page, access times, and other details about your use of and actions on our Services.

Tracking Technologies and Cookie Information

This includes creating and registering your account for the applicable Service:

  • presenting the Services to you on your device;
  • responding to your comments, questions and requests and providing customer service;
  • conducting Identity Verification or a Background Check prior to you listing your Services on the Parewell Service;

Communicating with you. This includes:

  • responding to your comments, questions and requests and providing customer service;
  • sending you technical notices, updates, security alerts and support and administrative messages;
  • presenting you with content that is relevant to you;
  • inviting you to leave reviews about our Services
  • providing news and information we think will be of interest to you.

Facilitating and processing transactions. This includes:

  • facilitating and processing transactions and send you related information, including booking and payment confirmations and tax documentation (where required);
  • facilitating revenue distribution to Service Providers and for related accounting purposes;
  • creating a payment disbursement account with our third-party payment processor on your behalf.

For marketing and advertising (if you opt in). This includes:

  • communicating with you, and displaying advertising to you, about products, services, offers, promotions, rewards, and events offered by Parewell and others, and provide news and information we think will be of interest to you;
  • facilitating contests, sweepstakes and promotions and processing and delivering entries and rewards;
  • fulfilling your referral requests.

Behavioural Remarketing (if you opt in)

The Company or Operator may use remarketing services to advertise to You after You accessed or visited our Service. These third-party vendors collect, store, use, process and transfer information about Your activity on Our Service in accordance with their Privacy Policies and to enable Us to:

  • Measure and analyze traffic and browsing activity on Our Service
  • Show advertisements for our products and/or services to You on third-party websites or apps
  • Measure and analyze the performance of Our advertising campaigns

Some of these third-party vendors may use non-cookie technologies that may not be impacted by browser settings that block cookies. Your browser may not permit You to block such technologies. We may share information, such as hashed email addresses (if available) or other online identifiers collected on Our Service with these third-party vendors. This allows Our third-party vendors to recognize and deliver You ads across devices and browsers. To read more about the technologies used by these third-party vendors and their cross-device capabilities please refer to the Privacy Policy of each vendor listed below.

For other uses. This includes:

  • detecting, investigating and preventing fraudulent transactions and other illegal or unauthorized activities and protect the rights and property of Parewell and others;
  • defend ourselves from potential litigation or legal claims;
  • comply with any applicable legal obligations;
  • carrying out any other purpose described to you at the time the information is collected.

How Do We Disclose Your Information?

We may disclose the personal information we collect with third parties with your consent or as we determine necessary to complete your transactions or provide Services you have requested or authorized. In addition, we disclose each of the categories of personal information described above, to the types of third parties described below for the following business purposes:

  • Parewell Service Providers. We share information about your booking with the applicable Service Provider when you make or accept a booking.
  • Public information. You may select options available through our Services to publicly display and disclose certain information when you sign up for and participate in the interactive areas of our Services, such as creating a user profile or writing a review (note that if you are a Pet Service Provider, your profile is discoverable to anyone who searches the Site or enters your unique profile URL into their browser).
  • Third Party Service Providers. We share information with vendors, consultants, business partners, and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work on our behalf. For example, companies we’ve hired to provide customer service support or assist in protecting and securing our systems and services may need access to personal information to provide those functions.
  • Legal matters, compliance, and law enforcement. We may disclose information if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, required by, or necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation or legal process. This includes disclosure to tax authorities or other governmental agencies in connection with those agencies’ enforcement of relevant legal obligations. Information that may be disclosed includes, but is not limited to, names, addresses, contact information, tax/business identification number(s), transaction and booking information, and/or taxes collected by Parewell.
  • Security, safety, and protecting rights. We may share your information if we believe your actions are inconsistent with our user agreements or policies, to operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks or to protect the rights, property or safety of Parewell, its employees, its users (including their pets), or the public.
  • Corporate transactions. We may disclose information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, acquisition, divestiture, bankruptcy, dissolution, or other transaction or proceeding involving sale, transfer or divestiture of all or a portion of our business or assets to another company, to the extent permitted under applicable law.

Information Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the products and fulfill the transactions you have requested, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and other legitimate and lawful purposes. Because these needs can vary for different information types in the context of different products, actual retention periods can vary based on criteria such as user expectations or consent, the sensitivity of the information, the availability of automated controls that enable users to delete information, and our legal or contractual obligations.

Information Security

Parewell takes reasonable and appropriate measures designed to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration and destruction. Please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or through mobile applications is 100% safe. Therefore, although we use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

To help us protect personal information, we request that you use a strong password and never share your password with anyone or use the same password with other sites or accounts. We also request that while messaging other users of Parewell through the site that you do not share any sensitive information that you would not feel comfortable sharing with a third-party.

Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act

According to PIPEDA, we may process Personal Data under the following conditions:

Accountability: An organization is responsible for personal information under its control. It must appoint someone to be accountable for its compliance with these fair information principles.

Identifying Purposes: The purposes for which the personal information is being collected must be identified by the organization before or at the time of collection.

Consent: The knowledge and consent of the individual are required for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, except where inappropriate.

Limiting collection: The collection of personal information must be limited to that which is needed for the purposes identified by the organization. Information must be collected by fair and lawful means.

Limiting use, disclosure, and retention: Unless the individual consents otherwise or it is required by law, personal information can only be used or disclosed for the purposes for which it was collected. Personal information must only be kept as long as required to serve those purposes.

Accuracy: Personal information must be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as possible in order to properly satisfy the purposes for which it is to be used.

Safeguards: Personal information must be protected by appropriate security relative to the sensitivity of the information.

Openness: An organization must make detailed information about its policies and practices relating to the management of personal information publicly and readily available.

Individual access: Upon request, an individual must be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information and be given access to that information. An individual shall be able to challenge the accuracy and completeness of the information and have it amended as appropriate.

Challenging compliance: An individual shall be able to challenge an organization’s compliance with the above principles. Their challenge should be addressed to the person accountable for the organization’s compliance with PIPEDA, usually their Chief Privacy Officer.

Your Rights under PIPEDA
The Company or Operator undertakes to respect the confidentiality of Your Personal Data and to guarantee You can exercise Your rights.

You have the right under this Privacy Policy, and by law if You are within Canada, to:

  • Request access to Your Personal Data. The right to access, update or delete the information We have on You. Whenever made possible, you can access, update or request deletion of Your Personal Data directly within Your account settings section. If you are unable to perform these actions yourself, please contact Us to assist You. This also enables You to receive a copy of the Personal Data We hold about You.
  • Request correction of the Personal Data that We hold about You. You have the right to have any incomplete or inaccurate information We hold about You corrected.
  • Object to processing of Your Personal Data. This right exists where We are relying on a legitimate interest as the legal basis for Our processing and there is something about Your particular situation, which makes You want to object to our processing of Your Personal Data on this ground. You also have the right to object where We are processing Your Personal Data for direct marketing purposes.
  • Request erasure of Your Personal Data. You have the right to ask Us to delete or remove Personal Data when there is no good reason for Us to continue processing it.
  • Request the transfer of Your Personal Data. We will provide to You, or to a third-party You have chosen, Your Personal Data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Please note that this right only applies to automated information which You initially provided consent for Us to use or where We used the information to perform a contract with You.
  • Withdraw Your consent. You have the right to withdraw Your consent on using your Personal Data. If You withdraw Your consent, We may not be able to provide You with access to certain specific functionalities of the Service.

Provincial Laws

Alberta, British Columbia (B.C.) and Quebec have their own private-sector privacy laws that have been deemed substantially similar to PIPEDA. Organizations subject to a substantially similar provincial privacy law are generally exempt from PIPEDA with respect to the collection, use or disclosure of personal information that occurs within that province.

The following provincial privacy laws are considered equivalent in terms and protection to PIPEDA:

Alberta:
Personal Information Protection Act overseen by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta

B.C.:
Personal Information Protection Act overseen by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia

Quebec:
Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector overseen by the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec

These laws apply to most organizations that operate within B.C., Alberta or Quebec. However, even in those provinces, PIPEDA still applies to:

  • transactions involving personal information transferred across border federal works
  • undertakings or businesses (FWUBs) such as banks
  • telecommunications and transportation companies

PIPEDA also applies to organizations in the Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut, as they are considered federally- regulated.

Children's and Minor Users Privacy Rights

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If You are a parent or guardian and You are aware that Your child has provided Us with Personal Data, please contact Us. If We become aware that We have collected Personal Data from anyone under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, We take steps to remove that information from Our servers.

If We need to rely on consent as a legal basis for processing Your information and Your country requires consent from a parent, We may require Your parent's consent before We collect and use that information.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

We may change this Privacy Statement from time to time when necessary to reflect changes in our Services, how we use personal information, or the applicable law. If we make changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of the statement. If we make material changes, we will provide you with notice or obtain consent regarding such changes as may be required by law. We encourage you to review the Privacy Statement whenever you access the Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our privacy practices and the ways in which you can exercise choice over these practices. The practices described in this Privacy Statement are subject to applicable laws in the locations in which we operate; this means that we only engage in the practices described below in a particular location if permitted under the laws of that location.
